Sunday Brunch 8:00 am – 3 pm
We’ve eaten here twice now; once for lunch and once for Sunday brunch. For lunch we had a chicken salad wrap with white meat chicken and the seared salmon wrap with a side of potato salad. On Sunday, Mike had the waffles and chicken special and it tasted so good. The chicken had a crispy coating with some honey sauce drizzled over it. I can’t wait to go back and try the rest of their menu.

Fat Patties is about 1/2 mile from the Parris Island front gate. You can get all kinds of burgers including a black bean veggie burger, beef and pork burger, turkey burgers and shrimp burgers. Yum. So far I’ve had the Crunch Beef Burger (twice). It has American cheese and House Made BBQ potato chips (the chips are right on the burger and give it a delicious crunch). My husband had the Pulled Pork Tacos. I’m not a big fan of pork but I would order these; they were topped with Fat Patties’ House slaw making them light and crunchy. Oh and don’t forget to try the hand cut Rosemary & Sea Salt Fries. Fat Patties has a full bar, big screen TV’s and a friendly atmosphere. Save room for their unusual ice cream flavors too!

Oh my the food, the food. It is sooo yummy at Dukes BBQ. For one price you can choose from an assortment of good home cooking. On my plate you can see coleslaw, hushpuppy, corn fritters, pork BBQ with mild and honey mustard sauce, mashed potatoes and salad. The price includes a drink and dessert.
McDonalds of Port Royal
950 Parris Island Gateway
(843) 524-8500A typical McDonalds but this one has Marine Corps decor. I’m a big fan of the Filet O’ Fish unless I’m eating healthy, then I get one of their salads with chicken on top.

Fri-Sat 10AM to 11PM
This Subway is as close to the Parris Island gate as you can get without being on the base. The establishment is clean and bright. The food is always fresh and tasty. Sometimes we run out to this place to get lunch when everyone is lined up at the Subway on Parris Island.
If you want a sandwich, but not your every day sub or hoagie, stop at Alvin Ord’s on Ribaut Road for one of a kind sandwiches like The Salvation with 3 cheeses melted on circular French or whole wheat bread. They add ham, salami and spiced meat next. Top it all with lettuce tomato, onions and mustard and you’ve got one heavenly sandwich. Or try the Beaufort Philly with steak, sweet peppers, and onions. Sandwiches come in three sizes; small, medium, and large.
My personal favorite is the Turkey Club. The French Dip is very good too, but I’m not graceful enough to eat it without wearing some of it. 🙂
Don’t forget to get a cherry or vanilla coke or some sweet tea.
I like to call ahead with my order because they are known to be very busy at lunch time. When you arrive, stand in the pick-up line for your order.

Whenever I am in the mood for a chef salad with fresh bread and honey mustard dressing, I visit Magnolia Café located about a block away from the University of South Carolina Beaufort Campus. They serve breakfast and lunch in a casual setting with seating both inside and outside.
