Beaufort History Museum -The Arsenal, 713 Craven Street, Beaufort, SC 29902.  Phone 843-379-3079   Visit their website for current admission prices and call before visiting to make sure they are staffed.

Chocolate Tree – 507 Carteret Street,  Beaufort, SC 29902.  Call 843-524-7980.  A great place to buy local chocolates.  While you’re there, find out when the next candy making class is being held and treat yourself to a fun learning experience.  My daughter and I went years ago and had a blast.

Dempsey Farms U-pick – 1576 Sea Island Parkway St., Helena Island, SC.  Call 843-838-3656 after 9:00 am for updates and picking conditions. Strawberry season begins in April. Call them to see what is available to pick.

Downtown Beaufort –After you visit the Farmer’s Market, stroll down Bay Street and look at all of the shops, then walk through the Waterfront Park or sit and enjoy the view on one of the swings.

Highway 21 Drive-In  – 55 Parker Drive Beaufort, SC.

Hunting Island State Park 2555 Sea Island Parkway Hunting Island, SC 29920.  Phone 843- 838-2011.  Hike along nature trails or just walk along the beach.  Visit the Hunting Island Lighthouse then climb to the top and enjoy the view.

Parris Island Museum – Don’t miss a visit to the 10,000 square foot Parris Island Museum located right on Parris Island.  The exhibits cover the local history of the area and United States Marine history from its inception to the present day.   The museum is open daily from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Saturday.  The open early on family day and graduation day 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. They are closed Sundays, New Year’s, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Admission is free.

Port Royal Farmers Market – Naval Heritage Park, Ribaut Road Beaufort, SC 29935. Open Saturday 9:00 am to 12:00 noon year round.  Stop by for things like breakfast pizza, fresh honey, kettle corn, fresh pasta or seasonal veggies.

Port Royal Rookery – The rookery is one of my favorite places to visit.  Walk the path through cypress wetlands.  Bring your camera and some binoculars so you can get a close-up view of turtles and alligators sunning, birds perched in trees or birds hunting for fish in the water.  It is beautiful and relaxing.  After you finish, you can grab a beverage at the coffee shop and see what the local shops have to offer.

Sands Beach in Port Royal – 6th Street and Sands Beach Road.  Search the sand for sharks teeth.  Then climb the observation tower for the view Boat ramp.
