PI007: Gate of Hell: The 1863 Campaign for Charleston

Attention Civil War enthusiasts:  On 18 July 2013 stop by the University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) Center for the Arts at 7:00 PM to see a free presentation, “Gate of Hell: The 1863 Campaign for Charleston”  sponsored by The Beaufort County Historical Society and USCB.  The Center for the Arts is located on USCB’s Historic Beaufort campus at 801 Carteret Street.

Dr. Stephen Wise and Dr. Larry Rowland will discuss the significance the Low Country played in the campaign for Charleston

Dr. Stephen Wise is Curator at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island Museum, Adjunct Professor at USC Beaufort, and author of the book Gate of Hell: the 1863 Campaign for Charleston.

Dr. Larry Rowland  is  Professor Emeritus at USC Beaufort  and author of A History of Beaufort South Carolina Volume  1  1514- 1861.
